DARATARD® RWD
Retarder for economical concrete production with extended setting times
Product Description
DARATARD® RWD admixture is a ready-to-use, aqueous solution of organic compounds. Ingredients are factory premixed in exact proportions to minimise handling, eliminate mistakes and guesswork.
One litre weighs approximately 1.05kg ± 0.02kg.
Applications
DARATARD RWD retards the initial and final set of concrete. DARATARD RWD is used wherever a delay in setting time is needed for sufficient delivery, placement, vibration or compaction time, such as in:
- Hot Weather Concreting
- Long Haul Concrete
DARATARD RWD is also used in special applications, including bridge decks where it extends plastic characteristics of the concrete until progressive deflection resulting from increasing loads is completed.
Compatibility with Other Admixtures
DARATARD RWD is compatible in concrete with all standard admixtures and approved air-entraining agents. It is necessary to make preliminary evaluation of the desired adjustments accordingly. Each admixture should be added separately.
Addition rates
Addition rates for DARATARD RWD can vary with the type of applications, but will normally range from 150 to 1,000mL/ 100kg of cementitious material. The amount to be used will depend upon the degree of retardation required under job conditions. Higher addition rates may be considered, subject to the project requirements, mix design criteria and site applications. Should conditions require using more than the recommended addition rates, e.g. up to 1,800mL/ 100kg of cementitious material, please consult your GCP representative.

Packaging
DARATARD RWD is available in bulk and 205L drums. It contains no flammable ingredients.
DARATARD RWD will freeze at about -2 °C, but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough agitation.
