MIRA® RT89 is a high performance mid-range water reducer based on new comb polymer technology. It is a ready-to-use liquid admixture with superior dispersing capacity for the cement particles in the concrete mix. This capability exceeds that of normal water-reducing admixtures, resulting in lower dosages, better slump retention and controlled retardation.
MIRA RT89 contains no added chloride and is formulated to comply with BS 5075: Part 3: 1985 chemical admixture specification for concrete. One litre weighs approximately 1.06kg ± 0.02kg.
MIRA RT89 allows concrete to be produced effectively with low water-cement ratios, especially with medium to high workability characteristics. MIRA RT89 is ideal for use in any concrete where it is desired to keep the water-cement ratio to a minimum and still achieve the degree of workability necessary to provide easy placement and consolidation.
Addition rates of MIRA RT89 can vary with type of application, from normal concrete to tremie concrete. Depending on the application, dosage rates can range from 800 to 1,800mL / 100kg of cementitious material. However, in most applications, 800 to 1,500mL / 100kg of cementitious material will be sufficient. For best results, MIRA RT89 should be added with the mix water. At a given water-cement ratio, the slump required for placement can be controlled by varying the addition rate. Should job site conditions require using more than recommended addition rates, please consult your GCP representative.

Most water reducers or water-reducing retarders are compatible with MIRA RT89 mid-range water reducer as long as they are added separately to the concrete.
Caution should be exercised when using MIRA RT89 with a retarder, as excessive retardation can occur if the admixture dosages are too high. Pre-testing of the concrete should be performed to optimise dosages and addition times of these admixtures. The admixtures should not be in contact with each other before they enter the concrete.
MIRA RT89 is available in bulk and in 205L drums. MIRA RT89 contains no flammable ingredients. It will begin to freeze at approximately 0°C, but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough agitation.
In storage, and for proper dispensing, MIRA RT89 should be maintained at temperatures above 0°C. MIRA RT89 should be stored under shelter and away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is six months from the date of delivery.
